With the fast development of modern industry, more and more people are flooding into big cities to find jobs. So it is of great importance for us to pay attention to the housing problem in big cities. On the one hand, the population is growing very fast. On the other hand, the limited urban area cannot house the increasing population.

We have figured out many ways to solve this problem。Firstly, it is a good idea to build "satellite cities" in the suburbs of big cities so that people will be dispersed in a large area.. Secondly, the government should build more high-rise buildings to house more people. Thirdly, the government should also offer a discount for low-income residents to buy their houses.

Considering all these, I believe that the housing problem is very complicated. First of all, it involves many other problems such as transportation, utilities, etc. Furthermore, building more houses needs a large sum of investment. Therefore, we should make further efforts to take all kinds of measures to tackle the housing problem in big cities.

Income Gap

There has been a heated discussion over the growing income gap now. Some people hold that the gap is natural because it reflects different contributions that different people make in their work.. In their view, those people with high income work hard and long. Besides, these people bring high efficiency, and create more wealth. Accordingly, they deserve high pay.

On the other hand, there are always some people who view this gap negatively. They believe that a lot of crimes happen as a result of this income gap. Some people make so little from their work that they risk taking criminal acts to get rich. In fact, experts have long found out that most cases of crime are directly related to low income. There is another point to back up a negative view against income gap. For most people, income gap may destroy the satisfaction that they obtain from work.

As anything has two sides, so has the problem of income gap. Personally, I believe that this gap may motivate people to compete better in job market. When this gap is growing too wide, however, our government should make some policies to get rid of its negative consequences.

However, just as everything has two sides, some other students argue that studying abroad also has many disadvantages. First of all, the tuition is so high that most Chinese family can afford it. As we know, the problems of traffic jams in cites can be shown clearly in the following aspects. First of all, people are often delayed one or two hours by the traffic jam, and a lot of time has to be wasted on the city roads. What’s more, the large quantity of harmful gas produced during the traffic jams damages the city environment seriously and has negative influence on people’s health. Even so, people are not likely to give up their cars and use other forms of transport. Based on what has been discussed so far，it follows that some solutions should be found to put an end to the problem of traffic jams in many cities. To some people, the opportunities with the coming of globalization can be seen from the following aspects. First of all, globalization enhance our country to communicate and cooperate with other countries in the world not only in science and technology but also in economy and culture. What’s more, globalization will surely accelerate our country’s reform and development and improve the living standard of Chinese people. And most important of all, globalization enables China to get involved with the world and the world know more about China.

However, just as everything has two sides, globalization undoubtedly bring about some challenges along with opportunities. To begin with, with the coming of globalization, we have to be faced with more severe competition now than before. That’s because our country is still lagging far behind in many fields, such as in education, high technology. Some national industries will be knocked out due to inadaptability. To begin with, as young people, they would like to pursue a modern and fashionable life which can be satisfied only in big cities. What’s more, most of the graduates thought there are more opportunities and bigger markets for them to choose in big cities. However, what they encounter in big cities is not only severe competition but also huge pressure. In order to survive, they have to do the jobs which have nothing to do with their specialties.

In fact, it may be a advisable choice for those graduates to work in rural areas not only because the graduates are badly needed in these areas but also because they can fully combine what they have learnt in the universities with the practical work.. And it will be also beneficial to both the graduates and the construction of new socialist countryside.

Some people think that the urgent task is to develop economy on a large scale. First, they hold that many people, especially in rural areas, are living in poverty. As a result, many children drop out of school and can’t afford even the compulsory education. Second, they believe only by further balancing and developing our economy can we get rid of poverty and gain the overall prosperity.

On the other hand, many people insist that environmental protection should be a top priority. First, they claim that we have only one mother earth, If our ecological environment is heavily polluted or ruined, we could not even survive on this planet. Second, they believe, it’s the rapid and advanced development of economy that leads to the present situation that most parts of the world are polluted. If the problem left unsolved, one day we may have nothing to drink, let alone develop our economy.

In my opinion, both economy and environmental protection are our urgent tasks now. Without economic development, we would remain backward. Moreover, we might be conquered or bullied by other powerful countries. And without environmental protection, we would lose our home. Therefore, the best solution is to develop environmental-protection-oriented industries and agriculture so as to kill two birds with one stone. ( 212 )

After reading the above story of a British young man, I think he is both admirable and pitiful. For one thing, he successfully climbed all the famous mountains as his parents had wished. As we all know, it needs much perseverance and courage to achieve such a goal especially for a person who even has difficulty in walking. A Letter of Complaint

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the laptop computer I bought in your shop on May Day.

The case goes like this, I bought NEC laptop computer at your Zhongguancun branch on the first day of May. However, within a few Months, I began to experience problems with it. The main problems were that a few of the programs installed on it ceased to function and that the laptop refused to accept any discs, even though they can be accepted by both my desktop computer and my friend's Toshiba 2000.

When I returned to the shop to claim a replacement or a refund under the terms of the warranty provided by your shop, I was informed that I am not entitled to as the warranty card is invalid. I asked, “ why don’t you explain it to me early”. Your clerk replied that it’s my business. When I asked them to have a repair, they said it must be used in a wrong way, which means it is a man-made problem and I must pay for it. All this made me depressed. Even worse it already influenced my daily work.

As a result, I am writing to you in order to sort the situation out. 1 believe the warranty card to be complete and valid. I enclose a photocopy for you to check. I would like to arrange for my faulty laptop to be exchanged or for my money to be refunded. Please contact me when you have looked into the matter.
